Plöner Modell©

In 2006, the first senior citizens' assistants were trained in an EU-funded model project in the district of Plön near Kiel. There are now over 1,400 qualified senior citizens' assistants in German-speaking countries.

The training and activities of the senior base assistants follow the following mission statement:

  • Individual: The wishes and needs of the seniors are in the foreground.

  • Activating: Maintaining the independence of seniors.

  • Emotional: Loving attention as a supplement to care and housework.

  • Trustworthy and reliable: Personal caregivers and, through a well-functioning network, suitable substitutes in case of need.

  • Qualified: Well-founded training in senior assistance according to the Plön Model©.

  • Competent: Continuous training through seminars, exchange, contacts and cooperation with others.
